Who We Are
Founded by owners of Darayonan Lodge, one of the pioneering hotels in Coron, My Blue Backpack Tours began with a mission of providing tours services to guests of the lodge.
When Darayonan Lodge opened in 1998, there were hardly any tour companies offering tour packages. When tourists wanted to go to the islands, they hired bancas, asked the bangkeros to buy food from the market and cook them on the boat.
By the early 2000’s, bigger groups began arriving. These groups needed more preparatory work -– assistance in securing ferry or plane tickets, booking accommodations, arranging tours and meals, etc.
Worried that its guests might fall prey to unscrupulous operators, the owners of Darayonan decided to offer tours to its own guests. It was amidst this backdrop that My Blue Backpack was established. As a tour agency, My Blue Backpack has three main concerns, namely, the welfare of its guests, the interests of the community where the tours are conducted, and the preservation of the environment where the tours are held.
In 2013, seeing the need to develop inland tours and recognizing an emerging trend, My Blue Backpack, started offering Birdwatching and Bird Photography tours in Coron and Busuanga.
In 2015, it accepted birding tours for other parts of the Philippines. In 2023, it ventured into doing Asian bird tours with a trip to Sabah in January and Thailand in June. Last year, 2025, it began formally managing Capayas Creek Kingfisher Preserve in Coron, Palawan.
Today, My Blue Backpack is a DOT Accredited Tour Operator offering Island Tours, Bird and Wildlife Tours, Coron town tour, and Farm Tours.
